Learning through Landscapes
Learning through Landscapes is a UK registered charity and limited company that was established 25 years ago. Although the charity’s focus is mainly on children and the use of school grounds to enhance and develop learning, play and creativity, in 2013 the Board of Trustees realised that the vision and values could be applied to other community amenities to benefit those in later life, particularly people living with or caring for people with dementia. Prior to Living through Landscapes, LTL delivered a pilot project, funded by the Royal Surgical Aid Society to transform the outside space of a day centre in Herne Bay, Kent.
LTL has 25 years of experience in the design, delivery and use of school grounds and local green spaces for learning and play. We train teachers, local authorities, large contractors, landscape architects and landscape designers. Our principles of consultation, beneficiary designed results, plan/do/review cycles and resources and training to support sustainability transfer very well to settings for people with dementia.
As lead partner, the Living through Landscapes project will be managed and overseen by Learning through Landscapes.
